According to expert Ross Young, the manufacture of the iPhone 14 Max is running behind schedule as the iPhone 14 debut draws near. The supply chain is apparently having some issues because the iPhone 14 Max is anticipated to be Apple’s first 6.7-inch iPhone that isn’t a “Pro” model.
iPhone 14 Max delayed
Young claims that panel shipments for the iPhone 14 Max continue to be substantially behind those for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Young claimed that panel shipments are still “far behind” schedule in a post on Twitter today. Young’s report is based on data from the supply chain collected in August.
The supply volumes for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, according to Young, are more than three times higher than those for the iPhone 14 Max.
The screens of the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be the same size, but they will have different panels. This is due to ProMotion, Apple’s variable refresh rate technology that is only available on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, not being supported by the iPhone 14 Max.
We’ll have to wait and see if this implies the iPhone 14 Max will be delayed. According to a report from Nikkei Asian Review in May, COVID-19 lockdowns in China caused the development of the iPhone 14 Max to be delayed by at least three years. A few hours later, Ming-Chi Kuo stated that although the production of the iPhone 14 Max was behind schedule, everything was “under control.”
But it’s crucial to keep in mind that both of those assessments were released in May. Over the period of two months, a lot can occur. It appears feasible (or perhaps likely) that the handset could be delayed or suffer from significant supply constraints if the situation with the iPhone 14 Max panel is as bad as Young claimed.
Once it is released, the iPhone 14 Max is anticipated to be a hit. Apple will be releasing a 6.7-inch iPhone for the first time without the “Pro” price and features.
